In 2007 I completed my Diploma degree in Biology in Jena, Germany, at the Friedrich-Schiller-University. At this time I worked on population genetics of a grass species in grassland communities - working with a combination of genetics and ecology arouse my interest for experimental evolution. Being a member of the Rainey lab has given me the opportunity to investigate the genetics of organisms as they evolve.
In my PhD project I am trying to identify genes that causes adaptive evolution. In particular I am interested in mutational changes and their translation into certain phenotypic traits. To do this I am using Pseudomonas fluorescens SBW25 as model organism.
